Okay, so interning has taught me a lot, but it hasn’t taught me everything!  I don’t know how I have gone years not knowing about the Albright Fashion Library, I’m kind of embarrassed to admit this, but hey we grow and we learn.  I have yet to be honored to actually see the Albright Fashion Library in person,but I’m sure my time will come soon.  Seriously, I could f.ck!n live in this place, it is home to some of the rarest items, and don’t listen to the video, it is not open to the public.  You must have an appointment to enter these doors, and to get an appointment, you better be a celebrity, known stylist, or publishing house.  Once I actually get to go, I’m sure my excitement will simmer down, but until then this place seems like heaven.

This is the beauty of being a notable designer, your career starts as just designing clothes and is able to expand into fields you could have never imagined.  Karl Lagerfeld is a perfect example of showing how a natural-born creative can translate in all fields. First Cocoa Cola bottles, and now Orrefors glassware.  Let’s not give Mr. Lagerfeld all of the attention. Orrefors, an already well-respected company is known for producing unique and sophisticated pieces, and thanks to this video I realized the craftsmanship it takes to create glassware. At least 15 different people are a part of the production process for each piece (glassblowers, cutters, painters, engravers…), a skill that takes so much time and detail is always fascinating to me.  I love how he says “Plastic cups, it should not be in your home…”   If  you can be spoiled like Lagerfeld, the collab collection is set to hit stores and available online early September.

Enjoying the many flavors of nail polish is a perk of being a female I most enjoy ( I guess guys can indulge in this too, but that’s a bit creepy and rare). It is an essential to a girls wardrobe that is often underplayed. It may not make or break an outfit, but it adds that necessary pop every ensemble needs. Which ever brand of nail polish you choose to use, be sure it is one that paints on evenly; nothing is worse than messy, uneven nails, it just ruins the beauty of having your nails painted in the first place. This spring it seems to be all about the pastel colors, the periwinkle blues, easter egg pinks, and blush purples. Style is more than just going with the seasons trends, so I encourage the occasional outrageously bright hues of pink, blue, orange, or whatever your favorite color of the moment may be. Spring is here and it’s time to put away those dark hues of winter and bring out the playful colors of spring! And if you’re not into color, I still advise a coat of clear or nude. Painted nails are a completion to every outfit!

My color this week is “Made You Blush” by Sally Hanson, and I do not recommend anyone to by this brand. It super thin and I had to put on a beaucoup amount of coats so you could actually see the color.

One of my favorite spring/summer accessories this year are scarves. Only recently have I appreciated the beauty and creativity in scarves, before I just looked at people who wore them and thought “wtf.NOT CUTE”, but I was young, naive and mistaken. There are so many different ways to wear one, there is a style for everyone! My personal favorite is the Rosette Wrap; there are a couple of ways you can accomplish this look. You can either twist the excess in a tight coil and then continuously wrap the coil around (Video Example). Or as done by me in the image below just fold the excess over and tuck it in. What I like the most about the rosette wrap is it’s easy to do and is a different way to wear a headband so it looks good with your hair up or down. If you’re not into the whole “headband, scarf on your head” style, you can also use these silk scarves as a purse embellishment or simply just throw it over a plain blouse to add a little color to an outfit. This summer I’ll definitely be sporting more scarves and probably in every way possible!

I’m pretty much in love with anything associated with Olivia Palermo, I even appreciated her slightly bitchy ways on The City. But what I appreciate even more is her immaculately classical but modern style. Palermo recently teamed up with StyleCaster to create a 70′s glam rock inspired editorial, titled “Limelight”. The spread is a little less glam rock and more free-spirited hippie with a touch of late 60′s Edie Sedgwick. Since the end of taping The City, Palermo has been making her presence known, from collabs with Asos, modeling for Mango and Tibi, and now StyleCaster, and I’m glad to see she hasn’t faded into the background!

I’m in desperate need of a shopping trip, and this isn’t just me not being satisfied with my current wardrobe! So when I took a trip to Zara it was confirmed, my wardrobe needs to be updated. I absolutely love the bold, bright blocks of color. I personally would have styled Zara’s April 2011 Lookbook a little different because there are some great pieces that they have decided to leave out. I’m a bit disappointed they did not incorporate all the lovely flowing white pants and shirts they also have this season, because everyone knows this summer is all about white!

There literally is always something going on in the city (Just another reason why it’s one of my favorites)! As Lola and I were taking a regular shopping trip down in soho, we stumbled upon a cute event going on at Top Shop. Tonight was the launch of their new line of party dresses. The line ranges from bedazzled, colorful, bold pieces to feminine tutus and sheaths. No matter what your style is or what type of girl you are, there is a dress for you! Make-up artist and hairdressers from the salon Arrojo were styling hair in four different looks, which were supposed to go great with the dresses. Usually not a fan of other people doing my hair, but I dared to be different and allowed them to give me some voluptuous waves, a style perfect for any occasion. If you ever make it down to Arrojo, be sure to ask for Gardner, he was such a sweetheart and handled my hair well!
